So let me start by saying I didn't exactly follow my own advice on packing. I kept throwing things in last minute and now I am paying the price. My suitcase was 6 lbs. overweight and my carryon was nearly full. I had to take out all of my jeans (fun fact: jeans are 2 lbs. each) and put them in my carry on. I felt like my back was breaking because my bag was so full!
Then as I am getting on my connecting flight to Portugal the flight attendant tells me they can't find my luggage. A part of me expected this so I just laughed. Thankfully once I arrived in Lisbon, Portugal my extremely heavy suitcase was waiting for me.
This was my first ever hostel experience and I got pretty lucky. I stayed at Lost Inn Lisbon (pun intended) and it was so great! They offer free breakfast and a ton of events to partake in to get the full Lisbon experience!
My first night I went on a Pub Crawl with Drea, who I met last year in Barcelona. It was the best time full of endless amounts of sangaria, watching the sunrise, and suffering from a hangover! It was definitely worth it and we made friends along the way from California and Philly!
After a successful night of staying out late enough to watch the sunrise, Drea and I headed to Sintra, Portugal for the day. We walked around Quinta de Regaleira, which was an estate filled with wells, underground tunnels, and beautiful gardens. There is a ton to see in Sintra but we figured the best would be to spend all of our time in just one area to see every inch of it.
On the last day we walked around even more in the city of Lisbon. We walked and walked and walked. I looked on my phone to see how many miles it had been, 10 miles. Absolutely insane. Apparently, after looking, I only walk like one mile a day in San Antonio.
That evening we hopped around rooftop bars to watch the sunset. It was so breathtaking! Surprisingly, the weather was a little chilly so we wore jackets and pants most of the time.
